Getting over a cryo-ablation - three month post procedure (AUG 2020)

Three month post-ablation report This might help some people to know what to expect on the fitness side... Finally! Some improvement! I had been struggling to walk more than a mile but now I can walk up to 4.5 with rests or 2.2 non-stop!! Legs get a bit jellyfied if I go too quickly but I think that is lack of fitness! I've been riding my ebike on the lowest setting and have done up to 14 miles like that. I still have to be careful of doing too much on consecutive days so because I have been doing more cardiovascular stuff I have cut back on the weights and pilates but continued the yoga! If I do too much I have days of quite bad fatigue. Struggled in that heat in August, I'm not usually affected so much by it, but I expect it was all connected. Sleep is still erratic at times, that may be the amiodorane. I hope to come off that when I have my three month review. I also hope to be able to drink (in moderation) again then as I miss my Friday night wine and holiday ci...

Getting over a cryo-ablation - report at two months post-procedure (JULY 2020)

Cryoablation two months on This might be helpful for someone recovering from this same operation especially if they were previously pretty fit and sporty and looking to get back into that healthy way of life. I found it really difficult to find out much information for the younger (comparatively!), fitter person – everything seemed to veer between basically giving up everything or people who were back running after three weeks (scary!). So following on from my last report after one month, the second month started very well. I was able to add more weight training (toning stuff, nothing heavy); more pilates as well as keeping up my yoga and physio exercises for my back. BUT I was still really struggling with the walking. I eventually managed to walk 2.2 miles with a few stops, but it was hard. Breathing was fine, but my legs were just heavy as if I was wearing ankle weights. I contacted the wonderful arrythmia nurses at Royal Papworth and they said that all was fine, just to give i...

Getting over a cryo-ablation - Report at One Month post-procedure (JUNE 2020)

One Month on...     Obviously, me being me, I had a PLAN:   Once the first two weeks were over I was going to spend a month walking; then progress to cycling and rowing for a month and then finally to running.   Sorted.   Then three months of running would see me back to peak fitness (for me) and normal life could resume.   Easy! And to my great surprise I felt great for the first week. Sure, the hip/groin area where the catheter went in was sore and I walked with a limp but I was able to potter around a lot although a walk of a few minutes didn’t feel good on the wound.   I did some gardening (repotting, nothing strenuous) and after a week I managed one mile of walking, though I was quite tired and slow, as mentioned in my previous post at two weeks post-ablation. So I had expected this recovery to take a while and was pleasantly surprised by how well I felt for the first two weeks of moping about the house. Then I had a couple of days of fe...
